Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

I broke down and paid for one month to use the local rec center.  I spent one hour on the recumbent bike watching television and then tried out the virtual reality bike and it was COOL!  I am going straight for that virtual reality bike tomorrow.  My ankle is swollen and I can hardly stand to walk so no elliptical today.  I have been thinking about what Sasha said and the timing is actually perfect.  One year of nursing school=one year of base building.  Then I am out of school, a bit more injury resistant, and ready to train for some bigger races!  This blog is great--it will help keep me faithful!  Not sure how work is going to go today.  Fortunately, I will only have to walk in short spurts for most of it--from the truck into a house, back out, from the truck to the hospital, and then back out, from the truck into the post.  Of course, this would be the day that somebody crashes something in the middle of nowhere and we go hiking...I hope not...I  will look ridiculous trying to speed-limp.

You know my favorite thing about running- it has taught me that I am in this for the long haul, and little bumps in the road are ok. We learn so much from them and then we can make GREAT improvements! RICE that ankle as best as you can. Hey- maybe you can use an ace bandage with an ice pack when you are down at work today? I do that at home. I realize that we're supposed to stay down, but lets get real, down is not the standard position for Mom.

Hang tough sweetie and here's to a very boring and non-tragic day at work for you!

You are so right--Mom doesn't do much sitting down and relaxing! I will just be glad to be out running again soon and building me a big 'ol massive aerobic base and then next year maybe I can do the big race! It's just as well, since with school I will doing good to even have the time to get a run in most days(but I will sqeeze it in I am determined).
