Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

one hour and 52 minutes on the elliptical early in the a.m.  I can't even walk without limping.  Looks like I will be shelving the half.  How disappointing.  All this work.  That STINKS.  Doing the ice bath thing now hoping for a miracle.

Ok, the good stuff.  Went out with another couple for my husband's birthday last night with NO KIDS and had a good time.  Got Jesse's 14th birthday on Saturday.  All these birthdays after Christmas!

Gotta go to work today.  If my patient's aren't limping worse than me then they will walk to the truck and climb in themselves.  I'm not carrying attention-seeking whiney brats today.

Oh no!!! Evil eliptical was a good choice. I'm bummed for you, so you concentrate on getting better and keeping your spirits up. You have a great attitude. Sending a prayer your way.

CRAP!!! I am so sorry about the ankle! Darn it! I was reading what Sasha said about being a slow-ster for a while, it sounds solid. This ankle of yours is really being a BUTT HEAD right now. ;) I am SO sorry! Ice ice baby ;) CRAP!!!!

April, I go off a few days and you break up!! Man, see, can't leave the kids alone not even for a minute. Just kidding...tell me, what happened? How are you?

That's it! It's all your fault! I knew it had to be somebody's fault besides mine! Just kidding. Anyways--its the same injury I had on the other ankle..it just switched sides. Running on the left shoulder got my left ankle, so I compensated by running on the right shoulder, and, with perfect timing, my right ankle blows up! Anyways, clearly the half is on the shelf for now. Sasha has suggested running base mileage with very little speed or tempo for most of my runs for a year to build up injury resistance. Clearly my tendons need practice to toughen up. So...as soon as I can run comfortably I'm going to start at 6 or so miles a day and build from there. My plan is to run a 5k or 10k every month or so to let the speedy animal out of its cage, and other than that run base mileage. If I can make it to the end of summer(a year of running for me) without getting injured again, then I will start thinking about training for a half marathon that is held in October locally that is supposed to be flat and fast!

Hey April- to avoid the road camber problems, I run facing the oncoming traffic out and then with the traffic coming home. I am hoping that it will keep my wear and tear even. I also make sure that it is safe, or as safe as possible. When I used to run loops, I would run them in opposite directions every other day to keep the camber damage to a minimum.
