Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

I am okay with this.  Anything under 1:30 was acceptable.  The pace never felt good, felt forced the whole time, so it was a grind, but a sustainable grind nonetheless.  My poor ultra legs are not used to this pace, and I haven't strung together this many sub - 7s in a long time so I am okay with it.  Conditions were perfect, 30s and still, course rolls gently and is out and back, so very honest, although I measured it a bit long, most did.

Splits:  6:39, 6:44, 6:45, 6:33, 6:37, 6:56, 6:44, 6:35, 6:42, 7:01(grrr), 6:42,6:54, 6:52, last .23 in 1:27 so 6:30ish pace.

I think once marathon specific training starts in summer this can be my marathon pace come fall.

Congrats on (another) win! The times will come down, I'm sure of that.

Whoo-ee! That is fast, especially on the tail of three tough ultras. The training is just so different for ultras, so I have no doubt that your more specific training will give you what you want time-wise come fall. Nice job!

Yep, great work April. I've no doubt that you'll cope with that speed as MP, with some marathon training in you.

Congrats on the win - just disappointed you didn't drop out a cheeky little 20 mile warm down:)

Very good race for you April! I completely agree about you maintaining this (or faster) for a fall marathon.

Congrats on the win!

A great win! You're right: training lots of long mileage without specifically working on HMP made the difference for this one. You'll PR during your training for a fall marathon.

Wait a minute--is this a PR?

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Apr 16, 2013 at 17:58:52 from 68.102.189.33

Tracy--well, technically a pr, but I think my second half at St. George was faster.

From Tracy on Wed, Apr 17, 2013 at 08:25:50 from 209.175.177.37

Well, super terrific, then. But I still say you'll see some great gains in the fall with a different kind of training!
