Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

7:16 AP.  I felt kind tired and sore, but it was in the low 70s with cloud cover and I didn't want to waste a day with good conditions, so I did a long run.  started brisk and felt decent so hit a 5 mile MP tempo for miles 6-11 and then slowed back down to brisk because my legs were basically just fried,  Splits were all over depending on how I felt at the time.  Confidence for sub-3 is not good, it will have to hit on a day I feel good and conditions are decent or it isn't gonna happen.

For fun, splits:  7:56, 7:28, 7:24, 7:20, 7:29, 7:02, 6:49, 6:55, 6:49, 6:48, 6:47, 6:49, 7:48, 7:42, 7:28, 7:17, 7:25, 7:20, 7:12.  All around a wishy-washy run.

do not lose confidence in the sub-3. this was one run, and even if you weren't quite feeling it, those splits are very solid. it's definitely faster than i would ever run 18 miles!

you are in the thick of training -- it's totally normal to experience that flat/fried feeling on your runs.

it will all come together.

Yeah, what allie said... when 9 of 10 workouts say "Crush 3 hours" and then 1 doesn't provide the same kind of awe-inspiring confidence... ignore the one and trust in the 9.

Your confidence will return in a day or two when you crush one or two more workouts. :-)

Agree with all above comments. I'd also argue that a 18 miler at 23 seconds per mile slower than GMP in the thick of hard training is a pretty dang good workout!

I had the perfect comments but looks like everyone else beat me to the punch. So instead of being repetitive, I'll leave you with this: Goooooooo April!
