Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

7:19 AP.  It was windy and I was totally not feeling it today.  Workout was supposed to be 3 x2 miles at tempo pace with .5 brisk recoveries.  I plodded my two mile warm up and decided that I would just run fast for the tempo miles but wouldn't push too much.  I just... wasn't feeling it today.

2 mile warm up 8:32, 8:28

2 mile "tempo" 6:56, 7:04

.5 at 7:36 pace

2 mile tempo 6:43, 6:54

.5 at 7:35 pace

2 mile tempo 6:51, 6:45

.65 cooldown at 7:27 AP--I had to rush and get serious about getting to work

I like your 'not feeling it' pace!

Can you tell in your warmup if the workout is going to suck? I always know for sure if it's going to be bad, but can't tell if it's going to go really well or just ok. Of course with wind, every workout has some degree of suck.

Anyway, at least you got some training out of it and stuck to the plan!

April--maybe I should've farleked to get some turbo

Joe--I'm same as you, I can usually tell in the warm-up if it just ain't gonna happen(like today), but as far as knowing if it will go really well--those workouts are usually random but welcome surprises!

I have a weird training-to-race time ratio, meaning I really struggle to keep a certain pace during a training run but can kill it in a race (usually). So I may not be a good judge of a workout, but that looks like an awesome workout to me, especially with only a half mile recovery.

Well done, especially for one of those darn "blah" days. Hate those!

P.S. I really wish we lived near each other because we have very similar times (except you kill me on the marathon).

Kelsey I would about kill for your 5k times! Perhaps working on speed(yuck) will be my summer project!
