Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

7:32 average pace.  Goal was 2x3 at fast tempo(6:52ish pace) with .5 brisk recovery.  It was over 70 degrees today and windy--I am not used to the heat.  Night 2 of up-all-night with Vanessa is under my belt.  I got home at 1am from work and run and was up until 2am with her, and then up at again at 6:20am to get the boys off to school.  I did take a nap today, though.  Anyways, I went out way too fast for the first set of 3, and payed dearly in the second set, which started uphill into the wind.  I spent the whole first mile of the second set contemplating abandoning the workout, using my exhausting week as an excuse, but then I thought of MichelleL's recent blog and decided I would at least put forth the effort, even if the result was sub-optimal.  The last mile I even found a little gumption to run in the low 6's and get it back under 7 minutes.  Not my best workout, but I am glad I hung on and did it anyway.

2 mile warm up 8:57, 8:34

3 mile tempo 6:51, 6:29, 6:44 (6:41 average too fast)

.5 recovery in 4:10(8:20 pace)

3 mile tempo 7:20, 7:16, 6:56 (7:10 average...ugly)

1 mile cooldown 8:11

If you put all the splits for the tempo miles together I averaged 6:56, so I'll take that as close enought to hitting my target and call it good.

SO GLAD you were able to get a SW in w/ a sick baby, work and all! You are AMAZING!

That second set is NOT ugly at all considering uphill into the wind.

2x3 miles repeats is TOUGH! EXCELLENT effort and mental fortitude! Yep, I'd say you hit your target.

Are you tapering now? Is your marathon on April 10, next Sat.?

Smooth--not a steep uphill, just a steady incline for about a mile--:)--yep, I am tapering, this is my last SW before the marathon. The taper really isn't too drastic on volume cuts until next week.

Yeah, great run for sure. Looks like you almost hit 5k pace in the middle of that first set so that's definitely an excusable 2nd set, even an impressive one.

YOU did a darn impressive speed workout today!!! And you averaged a really fast pace over your whole run!! Keep tomorrow's run easy - you deserve it, and it'll help your legs get stronger from today's workout! Oh, you might curse the weather today, but with all the heat, wind, & blizzards you've trained through, you'll handle anything that comes your way on marathon day!! PS: I hope things on the home front have calmed down a bit and that Vanessa is doing better.

Vanessa is doing much better today! We even went to the Easter egg hunt in town.

Ummmm that workout looked great to me!!! To keep a almost 5k pace and repeat how incredible!!! Not long now, April 10 th is just around the corner : D

The fact that you get out there and push yourself is what makes you a great runner. I think Kelli said it last week to Carolyn--it's about the effort, not necessarily the pace. The effort on that last set was good, given the hill and the wind!
