I accidentally ran 100 miles in November 2013.  it was hard.  I threw up a lot.  decided to do a better job next time

I did it again on purpose October 2014--Heartland 100 winner and CR 17:38:37

Run enough to hold off the middle-age spread

 

 

 

 

Long-Term Running Goals:

 

Sub 3 hour marathon--SOMEDAY!  Done!

 

New long term goal:  ....run enough to feel kinda like I did when I was fit

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.  
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

7:48 AP.  I took the privilege of sleeping in through the morning thunderstorm and got started on the back end of it.  The drizzly 78 degrees felt really good.  I ran on the dirt roads around home but did run through to the end of town and back on the sidewalk.  I had my usual 9:02 opening mile and ran pretty slow the first 8 miles and then picked it up a bit, settling into a pace that was aerobically easy but kept the leg turnover strong, which ended up being right around 7:20ish to 7:30ish pace.  Felt great!

Will you PLEASE MOVE out here? I am being weeded out from my running group. A new Julie took my spot with the speedstars and opening miles of 8:05 (theirs 7:0something) in to the WIND is just not ME. Way to run smart :D.

excellent run, april. 7:20-7:30 feeling aerobically easy is an excellent sign (as in a sub-3 sign). great to see you feeling good and running strong.

Oh my that sub-3 whisper again. It scares me. My confidence is pretty shaken after injury and the big marathon blow-up last fall. Saint George is definitely a pretty golden opportunity though. I think I can consider it more if I can get my 5K under 19:00 sometime the next few months. Does that make sense or is it crazy talk?

No, I bet you can get there based on those crazy-good treadmill runs and all the other fast workouts you've been doing. Nice run yesterday, I would love for that pace to feel aerobically easy!

i don't think it's crazy talk at all. i wouldn't drop the sub-3 whisper unless i meant it. the paces you have been hitting in your workouts and the paces you say feel easy are very good indicators that you can run a marathon in under three hours. the 5k time under 19:00 would also be a good indicator, but i think you can still get the sub-3 even with a 19:xx time. my 5k PR the first time i broke three was 19:33. SG is fast -- don't let the sub-3 pace scare you. i think you will find that once you get in that "downhill groove", the pace will come easy. you'll tick off 6:40s like it's nothing! :)

UNfortunately April we can't even run our first mile together EVER in over 9 minutes. BUMMER. Not even sure how we should start out at SGM. YIKES. glad you will be there with me and we can help each other cool off the nerves. NOT LONG NOW MY FRIEND. : D.
