Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

8:58 AP.  Out of bed at 4:15 for some coffee and a leisurely recovery run.  I am making my trip to the bank and not burning the check, as Sasha would say.  No aches or pains from yesterday's workout.  Thinking about a 4 mile race on  Monday in lieu of the weekly hill workout.  Thoughts?

Do it! I hadn't heard that Sasha analogy yet...funny but probably true.

I bet you would feel good to see how you've progressed since the beginning of this month!

I wouldn't think twice about racing instead of running hills, but what do I know about hills?

From seeaprilrun on Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 18:12:39 from 174.70.177.86

Joe--to quote Sasha: "Remember that you do not get faster from training. A mile time trial before and after a 10 mile run will illustrate that training makes you slower. You get faster from recovery which is triggered by the training, but it is very easy to squash your recovery by simply not doing what it takes to recover. It is like going to a job, doing the work, getting a paycheck and then burning it instead of taking it to the bank. Way too many runners fail to make that critical trip to the bank. Make sure it happens." I am very guilty of burning paychecks.

Tracy--I feel exponentially stronger now then I did a mere month ago! Feels good!

Flat--I don't know much more about 'em then you--my title should be "flatlander" too! Around here I do hills on the mill because there aren't many others...

Sasha is so wise. ;o)

LOVED yesterday's toughie workout! I am so glad that you are feeling well and doing REALLY well. YEAH. That injury did not damage you at all, you are faster than ever. St George is going to be so great for you, I am excited!!!
