Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Ran for about 36 minutes easy--Garmin was dead so just checked the time coming in and going out and did mapmyrun.  This makes 7:39 pace.  Whoops.  Really I was trying to take it easy.  The tribe spaghetti dinner was pretty crazy last night.  Everyone had signed a good luck card for me and they gave me a goody bag with gu, motrin, and other miscellaneous runner items and a pair of nice black sleeves.  I'm quite touched and a little embarassed.    Seems like too much fuss over me.  Wow!  They are too nice!  5 days.

What a good sign that you try and run nice and slow and almost go MP. How do the winds look?

Burt--that's just embarassing, good thing I'm not famous

Joe--I have been checking and re-checking the forecast, and no mention of winds or breeze that day, oh PLEASE I hope that is really true because this is an out-and-back course, starting south--and the south wind is not my friend

Adele--I am itching and yet terrified that I can't really do it for 26.2 miles

Sam--nice black sleeves that make my arms look skinny :)

Tracy--I have to kill or be killed...

Julie--oh the nerves...:)

Hey I didn't know your race was in the "other" Abilene. Anyway I had to look - do you ever look at the detail on the 10-day forecast on weather.com? You can click on the individual day and sometimes you have to hit refresh for some reason after that, but it guesses the max wind for "day" and "night" for that date. I've noticed that when I want data for a morning run, the wind prediction from the night before is more accurate since the "day" wind is usually the max in that afternoon. So it's saying South at 7 mph for Friday night and SSE @ 15 mph for the day on Saturday but I wouldn't expect that 15 until the afternoon. So my guess is you'll have your south wind but only 5-10 mph. Obviously it's only Monday so who knows, but it's not looking too bad now.

April, YOU CAN DO IT FOR 26.2!! If the weather & wind cooperates, you will rock!!! If you do have a strong wind from the south, just go to Plan B - start at a little slower pace, then after a few miles you'll be passing ALL the people who went out too fast!

You so totally deserve the fuss over from the tribe! Sweet friends!

VERY NICE run sans Garmin, feeling AWESOME and keeping those speedy legs sharp!

You're gonna DO FANTASTIC on Sat. May the running gods and tail wind be with you!
