Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Tried 3 on the mill. It hurt and my gait was weird.  This is stupid.  I have to heal, and there is no way I can give my best at Eisenhower like this.  I e-mailed them and bowed out.  Time to pull back and crosstrain.  Bone scan is on Tuesday.  Regardless of the diagnosis, I'm toast for now.  I guess I better look into a Y membership.  My  new goal is to spend the next month getting skinny like I was last year and staying somewhat in shape. Then, hopefully, I can at least come back for half marathon May 1st.

I'm sorry that you're struggling, but maybe this cross-training "break" will help you both mentally and physically. My bet is that you'll come back stronger than ever.

Sorry to hear about that April, but backing down before it gets worse is always the smartest approach (though not often the easiest). Sometimes I miss my pool running - I actually really started to like it!

Sorry to hear about the injury problems, hope you do not have a stress fracture

At least once you know what the situation is you can focus on getting better

I was under the impression that it is way too painful to run if you have a stress fracture so hopefully it is not as bad as that

Dang, I am sorry to hear about your pain. I am hoping the bone scans show that there is no stress fracture and some rest is all you need!

Can I join you with the gettin' skinny thing? I am up almost 10 pounds from where I was this time last year and I just can not shake it!

You probably made a good decision. As cliche as it sounds, you can work some new muscles and come back stronger and more injury-resistant. You will probably be a lot better at crosstraining than me, I get really lazy when I can't run.

I do the same thing (get LAZY!)
