Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

awesome. glad to hear you are feeling so good. how are you liking the downhill training?

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Jun 21, 2011 at 21:53:10 from 174.70.177.86

Allie I LOVE the downhill training. It feels like it propels me much faster at a much easier effort. I have such a short shuffly stride anyway that the rapid turnover going down the hill feels pretty natural. Of course after going up first, going down feels pretty nice!

From allie on Tue, Jun 21, 2011 at 22:26:17 from 24.10.191.18

cool. you are going to love st. george. i'm hoping i will be able to get down there that weekend to watch the race -- and meet you of course!

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 00:45:06 from 71.219.92.225

Hmmm, I do believe I have never had one of those days! YEAH for you!!! That actually sounds like a super tough workout! Even with the downhill you were certainly not resting at those speeds.

How is everything going? How is the new baby and mom?

From seeaprilrun on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 08:24:44 from 174.70.177.86

Allie that would be AWESOME to meet you--if you need somewhere to stay I have a room with 2 queens booked and no roommate. @Kelli sister and adorable 4 lb 8 0z baby are doing well--they got to take her home and she is almost 5 pounds already. She is the most perfect tiny little thing!

From flatlander on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 09:21:43 from 76.31.26.153

Great workout, glad it felt easy. I think I would fall off at 12%.

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 09:56:41 from 71.219.92.225

OH, TINY!!! Good to hear she is home!! My sister's babies are tiny like that and I get scared to hold them. My babies are huge so those tinesy ones seem so fragile.

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 09:57:06 from 71.219.92.225

Where are you staying in St George? Hopefully our hotels our close.

From JulieC on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 13:24:13 from 67.41.190.113

April, way to go on your downhill training!! mixed with uphill of course. I think the fact that summer is in the air there is a newness to our running that is coming upon us. : D. the only problem with SGM is that it signifies the end of the summer....But IT SURE IS GOING TO BE A GREAT SUMMER time ENDING BLAST to run with you at the SGM!!

From seeaprilrun on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 18:10:44 from 174.70.177.86

Kelli--I thought my 6 pound baby was little until I held my sister's! Oh my! It was so funny changing her little tiny preemie diaper that was way too big for her and admiring her perfect little self! I would love working in a NICU like Julie did! I have reservations at the Econolodge a few blocks from the bus loading area and am trying to recruit roommates because GEEEZ it's expensive...I may take Sasha up on his offer to talk to friends in the area who may have extra room. We definitely need to meet and drive the course and eat or something!

Julie--summer is here alright...it's hot! I am hoping to be fit enough to at least catch a glimpse of your back during the race!

From JulieC on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 18:43:51 from 71.35.248.87

April you could come stay with me. My husband and Courtney (13 by race day)will not be driving to St George until after the BYU football game that night (We have season tickets and my husband HAS NEVER missed a game, total DIEHARD). Every other year the game is a home one. Last year we watched the away game on TV that Friday night. Tradition apparently. Of course I do other things. Anyway...I will be taking Brooke and Amber (11 and 8) and going down there Friday. They entertain themselves. When do you fly in? I could arrange for you to stay there on Thursday if you are coming in then. It is a cute Manufactured home in a nice development, quiet neighbors. It is not the ritz but it is homey with all the needs. You and I could have the master room-- it has dual shower heads...I love to put it on warm on one head and cold on the other post marathon--- cryotherapy without freezing to death. My in laws own it, so it would cost you nothing but hanging with my family : D. We could break away anytime we wanted to focus, whatever you need. Oh and Mel and Kim are just 3 miles away, and they have pool access for us, also a hot tub.

From JulieC on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 18:44:25 from 71.35.248.87

btw you will be right there with me for that magical SUB THREE : D.

From JulieC on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 18:45:23 from 71.35.248.87

oh and my husband promised he would be quiet when he drove in...although he said "you (we) won't be sleeping anyway".

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 20:39:33 from 71.219.92.225

Hmmm....I wonder who else I know who is coming! It is expensive that weekend. Luckily we get state rates on our hotel (yep, even for leisure travel), one perk of being a government employee! I would let you stay with us, but my husband might think that was WEIRD! ;o)

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 20:41:11 from 71.219.92.225

WAIT Julie, I am confused. I thought you did not get in to St George????

From seeaprilrun on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 20:44:07 from 174.70.177.86

Julie--I hope you are serious because that would be awesomely awesome! I am flying into Vegas Thursday morning, renting a car, and driving to Saint George. Staying with your fam will save me $400---I have to fly out early Sunday morning so I may drive back to Vegas late that night and sleep in the airport terminal for a few hours. I will message you with my digits! I am so excited!

From SlowJoe on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 20:57:33 from 75.109.104.60

Awesome, eye-popping paces on that downhill, but I guess you gotta get used to going that fast! Nice run

From JulieC on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 21:58:17 from 71.35.248.87

Miracles HAPPEN Kelli. I posted the news last week on my blog. I won an entry through Run13. I had to write why I thought I deserved the entry, and apparently my pathetic story worked : )

From JulieC on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 22:01:03 from 71.35.248.87

YES APRIL I AM SERIOUS. Hmmm maybe I will try to get THURSDAY off from work so I can come down earlier and hang with you but either way I can get you in to our place Thursday. I will call/write you about details. Oh and you don't have to sleep on the floor. : D.

From JulieC on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 22:02:47 from 71.35.248.87

I am glad you will be there. We can make ourselves sick with prerace excitement!!!

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 22:08:42 from 71.219.92.225

I remember you said you were trying to win the contest from them, I just did not know you had!!!

Will you two ladies wait at the finish line for me with a nice big ice cream???

From JulieC on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 23:24:27 from 71.35.248.87

VERY funny Kelli!! you will be right there with us or in front : D.

From JulieC on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 23:28:04 from 71.35.248.87

Kelli, I will just be waiting for you to take one of your 5 minute potty breaks so I can catch up. : D.

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 23, 2011 at 00:50:02 from 71.219.92.225

Not this year I am afraid, unless things change quickly! But I am ok with it, I will just do my best---whatever that may be! I just want the ice cream at the end.
