Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

5am--came awful early after getting off work at midnight.  6.2 semi-conscious miles in the dark at a sputtering 9:01 pace.  Got the kids off to school, waited for Vanessa to wake up and eat breakfast, and then 4.5 in the stroller at 8:57 pace.  It was chilly and windy but I bundled her up and she was a trooper.  She requested some tater tots from Sonic at the end and I was happy to oblige.  Tater tots from Sonic a few days a week are much cheaper than a babysitter or a gym membership, and I like my little running partner anyways!  stroller+28 pound child+uphill+headwind=who needs speedwork that was enough!

I've never had tater tots from Sonic, but tater tots are one of those foods that are disgusting, but tasty.

Again--you're awesome. You are adjusting to the change in your family's schedule wonderfully.

Good use of the stroller! This guy ran 2:21 with one! http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-243-297--12644-0,00.html

I'm pretty sure he has trained using it too but can't find a link at the moment

I AGREE!!! I love pushing mine in the jogging stroller, totally worth tater tots!

Awesome workouts today, all on very little sleep! You working moms who fit all of this running in just amaze me.

Napoleon, give me some of your tots.

so cute April, hopefully you always remember to have money on hand. I think a trend is starting. How fun!! I remember the stroller days, my shoulders would burn after running. They're weak. I am sure that headwind running with a stroller for sure qualifies as speed, you will feel light a feather on your next run without them : D

AWESOME speed work in disguise! Stroller, wind, no sleep, uphill, you ROCK! Vanessa's one lucky little girl!

Very cool!!! I love those taters... miss them now that I am in Mexico. That will be one thing that I will have to have when I return to the states over the summer!!;-)

Tracy--I ate a few of them myself...

ChrisM--I cannot imagine a whole marathon pushing a stroller--hard work!

Kelli--I love the company! it's a good aerobic endurance test when she forces me to sing at the same time!

Burt--LOVE that movie!

Julie--Yes I have resigned myself to keeping a few dollars on me for the tater tot stop!

Smooth--I figured as much as I was huffing and puffing it had to count for something! :)

Dreamer--those tots are good my daughter eats most of them but I have to try a few--salty, greasy, so bad but so good

We had tater tots as part of lunch at school yesterday. I thought of you as I ate a couple.

Our school lunch is usually pretty healthy because the woman who runs our cafeteria makes everything from scratch, but it was so bad and greasy yesterday...a patty melt on rye bread (with sauerkraut on it) and the tater tots. Usually I bring my lunch, but I was running late in the morning. Maybe that's why I had a bad run yesterday!

My 5 year old always yells at me to go faster while I push her! Thanks goodness she does not require singing as well!

Michael Wardian's PR is 2:21 without the stroller. With the stroller "only" 2:42 according to the article, but somehow I am remembering that somebody ran in the 2:34 range with the stroller. I do believe if the kid is young enough, the stroller is in good condition, the runner is on the chunky side (e.g 160 lb), and the course has no uphill it is possible to get within 5 minutes of non-stroller PR on a flat course.

Some might even argue that you are racing aided because you can put food in the stroller and the stroller can pull you down at good speeds on the downhill. I would not be surprised if somebody learned the tricks of the trade and managed to run faster in St. George with a specially designed stroller than without one.

I raced a 10 K with a stroller once and ran about 1 minute slower than what I should have. Dallen beat me in that race by 15 seconds. We were together at 4 miles, then he pulled ahead by a lot on the uphill, but I closed on the downhill. The race had an equal amount of up and down, and up with a stroller is a real bummer, so a non-strollered runner had a significant advantage. But if the race was more like DesNews 10 K, it would have been very different.
