Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

8:03 overall average pace.  Woke up with some coughing with throat a little sore.  Have  been trying to fight the onset of this little cold all week.  Will take some more emergen-C today.  Anyways the plan was to get the second half of the run around target marathon pace but was feeling fatigued and legs were stiff so allowed myself to slow down a bit and  just get the miles in.  Glad to break 20 for the first time ever.  Ate a piece of toast with peanut-butter immediately before bolting out the door and drank about 20 ounces of gatorade throughout the run.

Foot felt great.  I did this whole run on dirt so the question is, will my foot hold up on asphalt?

Wow April, 20 miles, wow again.

And at a very nice pace, so, wow again.

Yes, I think it will hold on asphalt, after these nice long runs, why should it not?

Look at your progressive speed. Way to hold out and be strong the whole way. I haven't done a 20 that fast, jealous : D, and with a cold. So awesome April.

Did you do the postrun ice bath thing? It really helps with recovery.

Thanks Eric!

I thought about it Julie, but I am a CHICKEN! If I end up super sore and don't recover as well as I would like I will probably try harder get up the courage to do it. I did notice that the long run took the appetite right out of me. I forced myself to eat anyway but am wondering if this is normal after a long run? I am a big eater--it is very very unusual for me to lose my appetite.

AWESOME JOB!!!! First run ever over 20 and at that pace, you are such a super impressive runner! I am so happy the foot held up and will pray that it will do the same on asphalt.

WOW AGAIN! Nice job!

You're going to rock. Which are you going to rock? Wichita you are going to rock.

Yes, I have to force myself to eat. Usually if I wait an hour or two I am starving again. Are you hungry yet?

From seeaprilrun on Sat, Sep 05, 2009 at 20:40:37 from 68.103.250.39

I have just eaten so much I do not believe I will be able to eat again until tomorrow:) My husband took me out to dinner and I ate a rather shocking amount of food. Mama was hungry.

Awesome job on the big and fast mileage today! This was such a strong run! If you haven't been feeling any pain in your foot lately, I bet you'll be okay. Just take some ibuprofen on those long runs in case it starts to act up and you'll be golden.

20 miles=you get to eat whatever you want!!!!
