Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

8:31 average pace.  Original plan was to go longer, but decided to make it a little shorter to make sure I am taking care of my foot, which, by the way, is much much better.  Yesterday I had hopped out of bed and walked around a bit before it dawned on  me that I had not hobbled and wasn't in pain.  Same thing this morning.  Can still feel the plantar fascitis but it is about 80% gone.  Googled how to tape for PF and taped my foot for my run this morning, slipped in heel gels, and had a great pain-free run.  Was tempted to run some faster miles but resisted.  Maybe a few sub-7's this weekend if foot is rocking steady.  I don't want to do anything stupid before my first half-marathon in 12 days!!!  Will probably continue to tape for runs as long as I still feel even a hint of heel/arch soreness.  Still running on dirt only. Went to the zoo on Sunday with the kids and had a great time!  I haven't been in years and I was just as fascinated as they were!

HM in 12 days already? Do you have a plan? What will your strategy be?

Went to the Zoo too? Its fun to take the kids, really have to work out the mind in order to answer some of their questions...

Oh, and also, good idea in taking it easy with your foot, better safe than sorry!

From what I've derived on mapmyrun, the course is relatively flat until the last 4 miles around the lake which are on gravel and have wicked steep(12% grade according to the elevation map) hills that ricochet up and down. My basic plan is to start at 7:00 pace and hover there, going under if I warm up and am feeling good so I can put some time in the bank since the end will probably be an ugly slowdown! Probably won't get a fantastic time but it will make the flat 1/2 in September feel easy! Loved the zoo--the kids were asking about animals and I would search wildly around for the information stands so I could even tell them what some of the animals even were called because I had no idea!

Good luck on that 1/2 coming up, you will be awesome!

Sorry you are having PF pain, too. It sucks. Have you had it before?? Everyone tells me once it creeps up it never really goes away and that is freaking me out a bit.

Thanks for your advice. I went and bought come arch support thingies (look like little ace bandages) that i am wearing all day now, so we will see if that helps. I also looked up how to tape my foot and I will try that when i run next week. Thanks for your advice and I hope you get feeling 100% soon!

Kelli--I had a minor bout with it when I first started running nearly a year ago, but it went away in a few weeks on its own. Every once in a great while after a run I have felt some tenderness in the area but it is gone the next day. This time it has stuck but is pretty minor so far. The taping worked wonders do try it and I hope your foot gets to feeling better soon!

You're awesome! It's nice that the foot is recovering nicely. I think it was probably a good idea not to push too hard today. You'll have a good run this weekend and an awesome 1/2!
