Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

8:42 average pace.  Really slow start.  My legs, particularly my calves, were burning and sore which was weird since I didn't run yesterday.  It felt like major lactic acid build-up.  It took almost 4 miles before the feeling dissipated and my legs loosened up and the rest of the run was normal.  Strange.  I want fresh legs for Sunday so I may back off mileage starting tomorrow.  Maybe only 8 a day?  Friday I have an early clinical so that will be a day off, and then Saturday I will just run a few very slow to knock of cobwebs, and hope this leaves me feeling fresh and loose Sunday morning.  My plan is to eat very well this week and stay well hydrated, and get up early enough Sunday to eat a full breakfast(not huge, but a substantial breakfast).  This way if I encounter nausea issues again hopefully I have enough fluids and gas in the tank that not ingesting anything during the race doesn't affect me.

Not a bad idea to back down to 8 for this week. Friday off is also a good idea. And keep Sat's run very short and very easy.

I prefer a very light breakfast before a race since one will go 100% during the race.

Eat plenty of carbs during the week.

You will do awesome, I'm willing to bet on it.

The lactic acid buildup may be from something you ate. Did you eat anything different or a lot of one thing? Just the nurse in me. Must diagnose : D. Good run though. I don't know how you keep up the high mileage. Still doing low mileage high quality here. No time. Work tonight. Then three off :DD. Then the dreaded 5 of 7 :(((((. So excited for your race this Sunday. Take it easy girl. No weird foods, just natural.

Not sure what caused it. I have been drinking some new herbal teas but will probably lay off them for this week. Also noticed that my weight is up--I think I'm retaining some water. Hmmm. Will drink lots of water and fruits and veggies all week and hopefully things normalize a bit. I'm hoping a cut in mileage leaves my legs feeling fresh for Sunday. They are definitely tired but after this 1/2 there won't be too much more hard training and miles before it is time to taper for my first marathon! I'm hoping in the full marathon the mileage pays off.
