Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

A few tornadoes got close but nothing hit us and Kansas got out out mostly unscathed.  Unfortunately Oklahoma was not so lucky.  :(

Vanessa was asking to run--she misses her stroller runs and tater tots so today we made up for lost time.  About a mile into our start we ran into another runner named Shelly.  She was super nice so we ran with her for over 3 miles until she turned off and we went to the park so Vanessa could play.  4.73 at a super duper relaxed 11:44 pace. :)

Then, after Vanessa was done playing we ran 5.12 more at 8:34 pace, then dropped into sonic for Vanessa's tots and a diet cherry limeade for mommy.

Sounds like a truly fun run! Nice that the little one is a motivator! Diet Cherry Limeade sounds scrum-dely-icious!

Now I feel bad for hoping that the tornadoes hit them. Really, I just meant Norman, OK and Soonerville. They could use a good F5.

You should see if you can set a world marathon record with stroller. I wonder if they have such a thing.

From Burt on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 14:18:05 from 206.19.214.144

Glad you're okay.

Joe - I think I saw a blog talking about how there is such a thing.

From KP on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 14:46:51 from 65.208.22.26

have you seen the guy that does the tri's with his son? that is inspiring! he has run a 2:40 marathon pushing the stroller.... just ran Boston. how awesome!

I've heard of team Hoyt before--they are truly amazing! The first time I heard about them it was this video set to music on youtube and I just bawled--the whole story is so moving!

From KP on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 14:56:44 from 65.208.22.26

i just cried like a baby at my desk at work watching the video on their website. i've seen it before and not cried... i think i am becoming more emotional. this is nuts!

From Burt on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:00:43 from 206.19.214.144

Just now KP? Oh, I wish I could have been there to witness that. I don't know if I would have laughed at you or cried with you.

From Tracy on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:05:04 from 209.175.177.37

Nice super relaxed mileage! And sounds like a nice treat afterward!

From allie on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:08:50 from 67.177.0.102

WR for a marathon with a stroller is 2:32.

From Burt on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:11:25 from 206.19.214.144

But who won? The mom or the baby?

From KP on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:16:00 from 65.208.22.26

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that it is in fact, "dad" or baby... not mom.

From seeaprilrun on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:17:38 from 72.205.226.44

I don't think I could convince Vanessa to sit in a stroller for a whole marathon.

From allie on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:18:14 from 67.177.0.102

it was actually a baby pushing a dad.

From allie on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:18:53 from 67.177.0.102

april - tots! lots of tots!

From seeaprilrun on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:20:29 from 72.205.226.44

There will have to be special Sonic-sponsored aid stations with fresh tater tots--and we can't run by any playgrounds that she can see from the stroller!

From seeaprilrun on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:21:55 from 72.205.226.44

...is it cheating if I jump in the stroller and ride it down hills?

From allie on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:32:27 from 67.177.0.102

even better...get a motorized stroller and tie yourself to it. don't forget to wear your heelys.

From CookieLegs on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 15:51:09 from 155.101.152.105

I'm glad the tornados skirted your area! Vanessa is going to have wonderful memories of her stroller rides! And your cherry limeade sounds most delicious & mouth watering!

From SlowJoe on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 16:13:46 from 131.59.200.80

As long as there are people running marathons while pushing strollers and going faster than my 5K pace, I'll always be slowjoe.

At OKC, I (very slowly) passed a girl around mile 4 or so who only had one leg, and she was pushing a wheelchair with someone in it. And she was doing the full marathon while I was doing the half because we saw her around mile 22 on the course as we were driving away. Read a story later on that she was going for a 3-hr marathon last year (sans wheelchair) until she met the disabled girl that she was pushing before the 2009 OKC marathon.

And now super-babies are pushing their dads while setting record marathon times. I couldn't even walk when I was a baby.

From Nan on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 16:48:11 from 174.51.250.151

Glad you didn't get whisked away by a tornado.

2:32 super baby must have had rocket packs anchored to his/her diaper.

From Nan on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 16:49:04 from 174.51.250.151

Burt-I din't know blogs could talk. How do I add that function to mine?

From Smooth on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 16:46:04 from 174.23.172.155

Glad the tornadoes didn't touch down in your neck of the woods. Sounds like a fun run day with Vanessa-stroller-tater-tots-diet-cherry-limeade-outing!
