Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Vanessa struggled all night. We went to the doctor today and we are going to start her on daily pulmicort. Hopefully after a few months of that we get things under control and I don't have to have her all jacked up on albuterol and xopenex all the time. I have a pulse-ox at home and her sats dropped under 90% with any exertion, so we watched a lot of television today! Needless to say, stroller running was out. I'm planning on doing some strength drills and core work later on tonight.

And, in other exciting news, I BOUGHT A TREADMILL! There are a lot of times when I have time to run because the kids are napping or whatever, but there is nobody to watch the kids. So, for the convenience of the whole family and in a selfish desire to get my runs in, I bought the treadmill. Really though, it helps, because now I can time some runs so I can do them when hubby is working and the kids are napping, and then they have my wholehearted attention when they are all home and awake. I'm not going to run on it every day but probably a good 2 or 3 days a week. My husband is happy about it. He has been wanting to do some workout videos, like maybe p90x, and this way we can work out together. It gets delivered next week!

Awesome April!! Now that my basement is just about complete, carpet went in last Thursday I have fantasized about my new TM room. How did you decide on a TM model? What kind did you get and how was the cost? I have seen a lot on ebay and the local news on line. Yay for quality runs without as much guilt : D

I am so sorry to hear about Vanessa's breathing, and hope the new medicine works. (I'm sure she likes hanging out with you on the couch, but I'm sure she'd also probably like to get out and about, too.)

That is exciting news about the TM, April! And it will probably make scheduling runs easier this summer when your kids are out of school! Not to mention you can do hill work now! ;)

(My kids all wanted to check out mine when I first got it, but I needed to make rules that they had to spend 15 seconds at each speed before ramping it up more. Otherwise, they probably would've gone flying off the back when the speed finally caught up! My still daughter uses it once in a while, but I think my TM deck is too short for my boys (who are both over 6' tall now!)

We did the same with the daily pulmicort. I. guess technically he is still supposed to be on it, but we only drag it out in the spring and the fall when he is having difficulty.

I'm excited for you and your treadmill! I wish I had one, but I really have no place to put one! It'll be good for your family I bet.

Good news on the treadmill, I think they are really good for getting workouts done. I only do easy runs outside and all fast stuff on the TM.

Plus no problem in crazy wet/snow etc

I was wondering when you were going to do that. Hell, you probably won enough by now by placing/winning races so don't feel bad. I hope Vanessa is better soon.

Julie--a horizon T102 treadmill, about the best buy under 1,000 dollars that I could find. It has a 2.5 horsepower continuous duty motor which is not the biggest motor ever, but since I am a relatively lightweight runner should be sufficient. A bigger runner doing speed would need a bigger motor. But I'm not a man so this should work!!!

Adele--my rule as of right now is no kids allowed on the treadmill, maybe that will change later!

Tracy--I have debated about asking to put her on inhaled steroids, but it's time to try; it's got to be better than the constant problems and resorting to oral prednisone every month!

Chris--I am excited to try it out!

Joe--I spend $799, yikes, but it was the best buy for under $1,000
