Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

5 ez through the 217 before work. It is still 80 degrees in the afternoons here. I felt good, I felt bad, I felt like dropping out of the race Sunday, and then I got the number 2:57 in my head. I really need Sunday to get here so I can get this over with!!

You can do it! I was reading your debate about the watch - will they have clocks at each mile? If so, I vote no watch but write some key milestones on your arm or something. If there were no clocks I'd be worried the whole time whether I was running fast enough.

I am excited for you :)

agree with if there are clocks. I would definitely lose the garmin and wear a stop watch. I did that last year at sg and felt better than this year staring at a watch!! I couldn't enjoy the views and focus on gaining on people/places. Going by feel with stop watch is possible since you don't have a pace showing.

I've been thiking about you!! Don't worry about the numbers, just go get it :) No matter what happens you are an amazing person and I believe in you! I only looked at my watch like 3 times in the first half and that was to keep myself in check. After that I was just giving it what I had. I guess once in the second half at mile 24 to see where I was at. Seriously you are amazing!

Hang in there April. You are so ready for this race. Relax and make it happen. Don't even think about numbers. We all know what you are capable of and we all believe in you. All thats left to do is run the race.

Also I just read Lauren Fleshmans article where she talks about not being the best when it comes to the science of running. But having enough heart that the science doesn't matter. At the end of the day, in those final miles when your body is completely checked out it all comes down to heart.

You have more heart than anyone I know!
