Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

7.5 at a gentle 9:10 pace.  I felt good and restrained myself so I would run a true recovery pace. I wrote the check and mailed the registration for my first half-marathon today so it is officially a go!  My knee is only mildly sore so I am glad I cut the long run a little short yesterday.  Came home and my husband and brother-in-law had cooked a massive breakfast of hash browns, eggs, bacon, and toast.  They have been staying here since the weekend so we are a a house full of 4 adults and 7 children--fun times!  All the younger kids have been running in a pack and having a blast.  Almost time to ring in the new year!

Wooo Hooo!!! You are going to love the half. I have only done one (so far), and I loved it. If I hadn't hurt myself, I'd be running another one this month. I'm so excited for you. When is the race?

You have a full house! Crazy!

From Burt on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 13:07:02

That's exciting...! Good luck!

From Eric Day on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 13:10:27

April, you are ready for that HM!

A full house is always great, just as long as they leave after some days...

Camille--January 17th!--right around the corner; I am excited but a little apprehensive because the course is supposed to be wicked hilly which I am not trained for--it's pretty flat around here!

Burt--Thanks! I'll need it!

Eric--a full house is great!--especially these folks; my brother-in-law is a neat freak so he cleans a lot and went grocery shopping--they are easy houseguests to have!

Smart move yesterday! These recovery runs are so important and SO GOOD FOR US! :) I like them so much I want to run them EVERYDAY ! ;) I am off to watch a Knights Tale with my 14 year old. We love Heath Ledger... a moment of silence please ;)

From Burt on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 17:21:29

Be careful about the scene with the naked man in it.

From MARION on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 17:42:50

That's our favorite scene! Burt, you're no fun ;)

From Burt on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 19:16:57

Wait. Is your 14 year old a girl? I don't know why, but I assumed your 14 year old was a boy. So you totally wierded me out when you said that's "our favorite part." I can just see the two of you slapping each other high five at that part.

From MARION on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 19:48:13

Nope- my three oldest are girls. If I were watching a movie with my sons it would be more like, Transformers (they like the cars, not the slutty chick), or Cars or Prince Caspian or Nightmare Before Christmas.

My girls mostly just giggle with the naked dude and cover their heads.

From Camille on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 21:53:28

The naked man is my favorite charactor... actually, it's a toss up between him and the red head that loves to threaten people. I love that! :o)

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 23:30:23

Okay I am going to have to see this movie now with the naked man and all. My mom has been wanting me to go see it with her!

From marion on Wed, Dec 31, 2008 at 00:12:27

April- you'll love it! (I hope ;)

Camille- the red head is hillarious! I love him!

From Burt on Wed, Dec 31, 2008 at 13:04:20

If you guys love them so much, why don't you marry them?

From MARION on Wed, Dec 31, 2008 at 13:56:56

Who says I haven't??? ;)
